Hello Descopers! The G2 Crowd Summer Reports are in and we’re delighted that Descope was named a High Performer in five identity-related categories including CIAM, MFA, and SSO. Descope also received badges for Best Support, Easiest to Use, and Best Est. ROI. In this blog, we’d like to reflect on and highlight some of the customer feedback Descope has gotten.

CIAM and more

Our vision is for Descope to be a complete user journey orchestration platform, helping customers design and control any interaction end users have with their apps. Such a platform solves a wide range of customer use cases – and that’s bearing out. Descope was named a High Performer in:

  • CIAM

  • IAM

  • Passwordless Authentication

  • Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

  • Single-Sign On (SSO)

This wide range of recognition reflects our wide range of customers. Identity challenges morph and evolve as a company evolves. A B2C app may have a passwordless initiative to improve user conversions, a growth-stage B2B app may need SSO to move upmarket, and an organization in a regulated industry may be seeking strong, phishing-resistant MFA. With Descope, it’s all drag-and-drop.

Solving SSO struggles

The benefits of single sign-on (SSO) are as alluring as its implementation is daunting. A team of experienced engineers often needs months to build SSO from scratch, and with good reason: building SSO involves understanding the intricacies of SAML and OpenID Connect, wrangling different IdP connections, and figuring out how to work with your customers’ tenant admins to set up SSO each time.

Descope helps customers greatly simplify SSO implementation with our no-code / low-code workflows. SAML, OIDC, IdP-initiated, SP-initiated, connecting with other IdPs, self-service setup for tenant admins – our customers find that Descope checks pretty much all their SSO boxes.

This reviewer highlights Descope’s ease of use when it comes to SSO:

“With no-code flows, I can implement my signup and login process in a few minutes. More importantly, it gives me the flexibility to modify it in the production environment directly. I added SSO support without changing a line of code!”

This reviewer shares how they chose Descope after a detailed IdP comparison:

“We needed a robust IdP that supports SAML SSO and SCIM. We did extensive research on which IdP solution would meet our needs and be cost effective. We evaluated numerous solutions and Descope was the clear winner. Their team has been wonderful and supremely helpful.”

This reviewer covers how Descope’s flexibility tipped the scales for them:

“Descope integrates with multiple IdP providers for SSO and also acts as an IDP during the initial onboarding by supporting local users with passwordless workflows.”

Preventing password pain

As user experience becomes the battleground for crowded markets, passwordless initiatives continue to grow. Apps being built today are likely to avoid passwords from the start, and apps that already have passwords are looking to supplement (or supplant) them with more user-friendly and secure methods.

Although Descope supports password-based authentication as well, we are strong believers in a passwordless future. With a wide range of auth methods (magic links, OTP, passkeys, social login, nOTP, and authenticator apps) and workflow-based implementation, Descope helps customers combine great user experience with a frictionless developer experience and enhanced identity security.

This reviewer highlights Descope’s breadth of passwordless options:

“Descope has been a pleasure to work with, and so far I am more than impressed by the auth platform. They offer any number of modern authentication techniques, including passkeys, OAuth, and passwordless options that make it super easy for users to get signed up and in.”

Passwordless isn’t just a B2C initiative either. This reviewer shares how Descope sped up their B2B passwordless deployment:

“We were trying to introduce passwordless authentication to our product with minimal friction and development effort. Descope was a breeze to integrate into our product and is simple enough for every developer on our team to understand and use.”

Going passwordless isn’t always easy, and many developers bear battle scars. This reviewer shares how Descope compares to their past passwordless initiatives:

“Descope makes it super easy to integrate authentication into our product. We have built passwordless auth in the past and struggled with Cognito, but Descope gets you going much faster, so you can focus on what you’re supposed to be building. The Go SDK is fantastic!”

Being human

One of Descope guiding principles is “Every Maker Matters”. We are building a platform that is easy to use and flexible enough for everyone from indie developers and students to hyper-growth startups and large enterprises.

To meet each developer where they are, we provide a range of support channels and resources that help developers…

  • Find their own way with detailed docs, tutorials, and videos.

  • Troubleshoot with our support team through an in-product chat.

  • Source answers from the community on AuthTown.

  • Call, email, or WhatsApp us if needed.

  • Just don’t try to send us faxes. We don’t get those. Faxes are the passwords of the comms world.

… and all of the above in addition to the dedicated customer success resources for Pro and Enterprise customers.

This reviewer found their chosen partner in Descope because of the people:

“I can honestly say, Descope has the best customer support and this is across all the different people I've interacted with, starting from technical support to the billing department. Every organization should strive to have employees that care this much about their customers regardless of the size of the customer's business.”

This reviewer lauds the hands-on nature of our support:

“What truly impresses me is the customer service. Every issue or question I've had was met with swift, efficient support. Even more remarkable, if a solution didn't already exist for a specific problem, the team was proactive in either finding one or working on a new feature to meet our needs.”

This reviewer appreciates the instant nature of our troubleshooting:

“I had some additional questions about implementing some advanced flows, and their customer support was super responsive as well. Was able to resolve all the questions in the same business day.”

Miles to go before we sleep

That’s enough reflecting. Reading these reviews makes us happy but also renews our desire to keep helping our customers by “descoping” authentication and identity management from their daily lives. If you’re one of the people who submitted a review and are reading this blog right now – thank you! We do not take it for granted.
